How to lose 100 pounds
found this article and thought it was interesting of course most is common sense anyways its just me needing to rethink how/what i eat.
How to Lose 100 Pounds: It Starts With Counting Calories
Counting calories is going to be a part of this process. Here are guidelines to follow:
How long it will take to lose 100 pounds varies — a 250-pound woman might need 40 weeks or more to achieve her goal — but Curtis recommends that you develop weekly and monthly goals that will help you track your progress and avoid becoming overwhelmed or discouraged. Attainable, feel-good goals include:
How to Lose 100 Pounds: Exercise Is Non-Negotiable
Being physically active is an essential part of losing 100 pounds. “This was the biggest challenge for our clients,” says Curtis. “They would say they couldn’t do it because of their ankle or their back pain. But everybody can do an exercise program.”
Curtis recommends:
Many people worry about how their body will look once they lose 100 pounds. This “depends on your age and condition of the skin,” says Curtis. “Some people’s skin will retract. For some it will not.” Once you reach your goal, if you find that sagging skin bothers you, you might want to investigate cosmetic surgery to remove excess skin.
Of course, the health and fitness advantages of losing 100 pounds, plus how much better you will look and feel in clothes, will more than make up for any after-effects of your overweight. With determination and a few smart diet strategies, you can achieve your goal.
How to Lose 100 Pounds: It Starts With Counting Calories
Counting calories is going to be a part of this process. Here are guidelines to follow:
- If you want to lose a pound a week, you have to cut out 3,500 calories, or roughly 500 calories a day.
- You never want to eat fewer than 1,200 calories a day, “and that’s on the low end,” says Curtis. You can always increase your physical activity, however.
- You can safely aim to lose 1 percent of your body weight per week; a woman weighing 250 pounds should aim for a 2.5-pound loss per week, eating about 1,250 calories less per day.
- Counting calories involves not just the food you eat, but also the calories you burn through exercise.
- Keep a journal of what you ate, how much you exercised, and your thoughts and feelings at those times, and limit yourself to one weekly weigh-in to avoid focusing too much on the scale.

Attainable, feel-good goals include:
- Being able to get down on the floor and play with your children or grandchildren
- Being able to walk around the mall without feeling short of breath
- Being able to do 20 minutes of physical activity three days a week — mornings are best, says Curtis (and work up to 30 minutes most days of the week)
- Eating four servings of fruit or veggies every day of the week
- Eating a healthy breakfast every day that includes a low-fat protein

- If you have a lot of joint pain, start with chair or water-based exercises.
- Try walking short distances and gradually building up your endurance.
- Involve a physical trainer or an exercise buddy as you get moving again.

Best kind of exercise is the kind that doesnt feel like exercise!
So yesterday started off not so healthy considering I had a whole box of mac and cheese for breakfast... oops... But it got better, and today i had a blueberry waffle for breakfast and yummy salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing for lunch.
I've got "L" the 15 month old I take care of "exercising" with me during the day its so cute! we"ll lay on the floor and she will copy me as i lift my legs up and down and she'll say up, down, up, down, while moving her legs up and down with me. We also get outside alot now that its starting to get nice again. we take walks and have "races" its fun:) the best kind of exercise is the kind that doesn't feel like exercise!

no pain no gain?
Yesterday was a gym day. Its going really well. I actually enjoy it and the people are really friendly too.. I was doing my workout and went to go to the next machine and slammed my knee into a machine and it HURT, and still hurts and has a huge bruise as well:( figures lol. I woke up this morning and my toe is killing me and of course you look up online why and it says it could be gout, diabetes, a pulled muscle etc... so im hoping i just somehow pulled the muscle.....
I weighed myself again yesterday as well and am down 1 lb. of course my weight is always flunctuating so we'll see what it says at my next weigh in at the gym in april. you have to get weighed and measured once a month to track your progress. There also starting zumba classes soon i hope they have some on saturdays so i can do it that would be so much fun. The first one is a monday night at 530 but i dont get home until 6 or later so thats not helpful....
back to the gym tomorrow!

Think after - before
That was a Swedish saying i found online yesterday and it resonates with me. I need to listen to my body more instead of what tastes good. Sure I can eat a bag of mini cadbury eggs or a plate of cinnabons but then i feel very sick to my stomach for hours after. So my new motto is think after- before. Before I decide to eat something I know will make me not feel so good, I will tell myself if you eat this you will feel sick. Hopefully I will listen.
My current weight as of last Monday is 248, and i wear a size 26 jeans....... yup I'll finally admit it out loud....... My end goal would be to at least be a size 14 again.... yes i once was a size 14 for a brief time..... But life happened....
I'm putting myself first, I'm going to go to the gym and I'm trying to eat better, small changes work the best.

Day 5
Today was my third day going to the gym, its getting a bit easier, my legs arent as sore as the first day so thats good! I like that there are only 2 or 3 older people there when i go in the morning and everyone seems nice not that i have time to chat much (or could hear over the loud music).
Cant wait to see some results!!

Day 3
Today was another gym day. Its so hard to get the motivation to leave my house and go to the gym, i would rather just go straight to work... But i made myself go to the gym... it was only my second day going, I cant blow it off yet:) There were only 2 old ladys there, and the person who works there. I was told I am doing great and she couldnt believe that I was so sore after mondays workout, she said i must have really been working my muscles..... ummmm no probably just because i have gotten so out of shape... Kicked butt again today, not looking to wake up tomorrow, i can barely feel my thighs as it is...

Day 1 Part 2
Once I got my butt out of the house and got to the gym it went well. The lady who works there was really nice, she weighed and measured me and then showed me how to reuse the machines. She then introduced me to the few old lady's that were working out (and really skinny) but they were all nice too! I then was able to go around the second time by myself! The lady that worked there said I did a great job and will be able to start the curves smart program in 1 or 2 weeks instead of the month it takes most people. With curves smart you have a little tag and you put it in each machine and the more you work out it increases your resistance and lights up to encourage you to go faster. Should be interesting..... Next gym day is Wednesday!
Day 1.
Today will be my first day at the gym.... I really dont want to go, but I know I need to. Not looking forward to getting weighed and measured and having the lady follow me around while teaching me to use all the machines again. But I know in the end it will be worth it. It would be nice if i had someone to go with me, I hate going by myself. I need some motivation!!! Hopefully its not that crowded at 530am.

Must exercise!
So I finally caved and joined a gym yet again. I had been doing really good. I had lost 65 lbs total. Met my boyfriend gained 30 back, joined a gym and lost the 30 again.... We'll a year ago now I moved in with my boyfriend and have ever so slowly gained all the weight I lost back...
For the most part I eat pretty good, lots of salads and veggies etc. But I have an addiction to carbs... mmmm bread, mac and cheese, pasta yumm! I really need to work on my portion sizes..... Also I don't exercise, which isn't helpful either. Most of the time I eat 3 meals a day with little to no snacking which is great.
I just started a new job a year ago. I work as a nanny and the baby was 3 months old when I started with her so I was just sitting around most of the time. Now shes 15 months old so I'm getting a little more exercise chasing after her. I blog about my job here if anyone is interested www.diaryofaprofessionalnanny.blogspot.com .
Yesterday I walked into the gym and told them I wanted to join. The lady gives me some info and then says did you just want information or did you want to join... I just said I wanted to join...
Anyway it must have been my lucky day. The usual joining fee is $199 but this week they are waiving that fee and you only pay the $39 a month.
After joining the gym I ran (well drove) to fashion bug to get some exercise clothes as I obviously didn't have any. 3 shirts and 3 pairs of shorts later I am ready to go!!
Monday morning will be my first morning. I'll get weighed and measured and will get to do my first workout! Lets see where this journey takes me.
